Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) Vice chairperson Job Sikhala has been denied bail by Harare Regional Magistrate Stanford Mambanje on allegations that he violated his current bail conditions which barred him from addressing gatherings or posting on social media.
In his ruling Magistrate Mambanje said, the vibrant politician violated a High Court order that bars him from addressing gatherings or posting videos on social media that are likely to incite public violence.
Sikhala is charged with obstructing the course of justice after he allegedly incited the public to cause violence at funeral wake of Moreblessing Ali in Nyatsime
Sikhala’s lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa says there’s nothing unusual about the magistrate’s decision. She says she knew that’s going to be the decision.
“It has become normal for magistrates to refuse bail in cases involving our members & other activists,”
