Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Head Cooperate Affairs Chief Godfrey Christopher Koti and the CEO of The Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ) Tawanda Guzha have echoed similar sentiments on Zimbabwe’s Aviation and tourism sector growing in leaps and in bounds.Former ACZ Vice Chairperson now Zinara board Chair Dr George Manyaya also envisioned Zimbabwe opening such brand new routes and restoring all viable flight routes for the benefit of the country’s economy.
Chief Koti spoke to TechnoMag saying Airlink has established a new route from Harare to Durban and his words did not fall to the ground with Airlink’s third direct route from Zimbabwe’s capital city Harare, along with Johannesburg and Cape Town, taking off day before yesterday, which will operate flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Speaking to one local Zimbabwean Tourist on the importance of this route Chief Koti got more than he bargained for after the domestic tourist said this was more than a kairos route for her family.
The local Zimbabwean woman said, “It makes it easy for me to fly and see my family
because i am from here(Zimbabwe) my tickets are already booked in December for them and Christmas because i haven’t seen them in nine years or spent time with them so its a blessing an absolute blessing.”
This was Airlink’s third direct route from Zimbabwe’s capital city Harare, along with Johannesburg and Cape Town, and it will operate flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

CEO Airports Company of Zimbabwe Mr Tawanda Guzha also added his voice singing the same hymn from ZTA’s Chief Koti adding,
“These are excitng times for us we are seeing a recovery in aviation, we are seeing recovery in travel and tourism, And the addition of the Durban route to the route network in Zimbabwe is a very positive development for us, we are excited that we are growing our aviation reach.”

Zimbabwe is one of SA’s main trading partners. According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, SA’s exports to Zimbabwe in November 2021 increased by 10.6% year-on-year to R3.87bn, while imports from its neighbour increased by 85.8% to R290m.
