The Zimbabwe Republic Police has banned another Citizen’s Coalition for Change Binga star rally set for this coming Tuesday.
Despite claims by the Vice President Constantino Chiwenga on Sunday at his Dangamvura Zanu PF rally, that all parties must campaign peacefully, the CCC claimed it had been stopped from holding the campaign program.
CCC President Nelson Chamisa used his Twiter handle to make the announcement, Monday.
Chamisa claimed the ruling party was running scared of his popularity.
“They cancelled our Tuesday BINGA RALLY. So they are quacking and shaking. We mean peace and love. We’re peacemakers. 2023 is fast approaching and we will WIN BIG, with a landslide. We will build Our ZIMBABWE New and Great. Let’s together win ZIMBABWE for change! It’s a citizen fight! Chamisa said.
This is the third time Chamisa has reportedly been barred from addressing supporters.
Two weeks ago, Chamisa’s rally in Gokwe rally was banned at the eleventh hour despite the High Court having cleared it.
On Saturday the Police also blocked entry to CCC supporters at Rudhaka Stadium in Marondera, claiming that the application to hold a “mini car rally” was invalid because of insufficient notification time.
The district office claimed it was against provisions of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act.
