Timvoes suspended as PETROTRADE board member

Former MDC Alliance deputy treasurer-general Lillian Timvoes, who recently defected to ZANU PF has been suspended from the PETROTRADE trade on governance issues.

Timveos, who served as Midlands senator under the MDC Alliance before she was recalled by the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T, sat on the PetroTrade board chaired by lawyer Tino Chinyoka and deputised by Zanele Dube.

Her appointment drew a lot of critisism from MDC alliance people accusing of ditching the party and going to ZanuPf inorder to benefit from state resources.

““Zanu PF abuses State resources and it is not surprising that they will appoint people like Timveous as a reward for joining them,” said MDC Alliance deputy party spokesperson Clifford Hlatywayo,”

in a letter dated 10/03/20122 Minister of Energy and Power Development Zhemu Soda suspended Timveos along with 8 more others on governance issues

“While the Board of Directors for PetroTrade was appointed in terms of Section 11 of the Public Entities Governance Act , with the concurrence of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe . I have today 9 march 2022 suspends the entire board pending investigations into matters of corporate governance “

  5. Lilian Timveos

Petrotrade Zimbabwe is a trading company responsible for downstream activities, including selling petroleum products and lubricants through bulk sales and service stations.

Recently Zimbabwe raised the price of diesel by 17 cents and petrol by 16 cents on Wednesday, the second sharp increase inside four days.

Only on March 5, energy regulator ZERA had raised fuel prices to US$1.51 for both diesel and petrol.

Diesel, now US$1.68 is 24 cents up from the February price of US$1.44, while petrol at US$1.67 per litre is 23 cents more expensive.
