Former Zimbabwean Ambassador to South Africa Simon Khaya Moyo has died at the age of 76.

The former cabinet minister and ZANU PF Politburo member’s death was confirmed by the state media via twitter.

Moyo had been battling cancer for years and died yesterday at the Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo where he was undergoing treatment.

In September this year,he was replaced by Mike Bimha as the ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity.

Moyo is fondly remembered for aligning himself with the Mujuru faction before being saved by Mugabe at congress.

Moyo is also known for reading the infamous dismissal of Emmerson Mnangagwa as Vice President in 2017.

Moyo told reporters the president had sacked Mr Mnangagwa because “it had become evident that his conduct in the discharge of his duties had become inconsistent with his official responsibilities”.

However in a turn of events,Moyo was the same person who addressed reporters to announce the reinstatement of ED into ZANU PF.

Moyo was a diplomat who served as the Zimbabwean Ambassador to South African between 2007 and 2011 before holding several ministerial positions in his political career.
