American President Joe Biden has announced the members of the Presidential delegation set to travel to Lusaka ,Zambia for newly elected leader Hakainde Hichilema’s inauguration.
In a press statement, President Biden assigned Acting Director of the United States Trade and Development Agency, Ms. Enoh T. Ebong to lead the delegation to the inauguration in Lusaka.
The American President is one of the world leaders who had been invited to attend Hichilema’s inauguration.
The UNDP leader Hichilema won the Zambian Presidential election by a landslide victory after defeating incumbent President Edgar Lungu of the Patriotic Front.
The US Presidential delegation will Include the Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim, for the U.S. Embassy in Lusaka Mr. David J. Young and Ms. Dana L. Banks, the Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Africa.
The Zambian elections were commended by the US administration for the transparent and credible manner that characterized the elections.
Hichilema will be sworn in as the seventh Zambian president on August 24 and his victory saw the country managing to remove the ruling party for the third time in history.
