Veteran journalist Tawanda Gudhlanga has died.In 2017, Tawanda won the NAMA awards for Outstanding Journalist in Radio. Gudhlanga reportedly died of Covid-19 related complications.
Tawanda is well known for hosting a number of business programmes on ZBC-TV and Classic 263 radio including the Business Forum. At the time of his death, he was working as a station manager at YaFM in Zvishavane.
His close friend Nigel Nyamutumbu said he learnt with shock and sadness the death of Gudhlanga whom he described as hardworking and professional.
“We are really saddened with the death of our fellow journalist who was a professional, versatile and talented person who had a passion for transforming people’s lives and enhance his career as a journalist,” said Nyamutumbu.
Even this TechnoMag journalist last met this versatile jovial competent journalist in Chinhoyi some two months ago at a Zimbabwe Electoral Commission workshop.Having worked with him nearly 14 years ago at Zbc, Tawanda was an up to speed journalist who used to host a program on then Spot Fm called the grill where he grilled his interviewees without fear or favour.
Even had the pleasure of producing for him his early days as a tv news presenter and he was always ready to learn and deliver. The news community certainly has lost a rare huge talent like the big man he was that he used to call himself ”the big man”.
