The daughter of the late South Africa’s president Nelson Mandela, Zindzi Mandela has died, a family source has revealed to SABC.
Zindzi Mandela who died on Monday morning was 59.
South Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) said in a statement without providing the cause of her death.
“The 59-year-old daughter of former president Nelson Mandela and struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, passed away at a Johannesburg hospital in the early hours of this morning,” said SABC.
Mandela was born on 23 December 1960 in Soweto to Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela
She was the sixth child.
She died while serving as South African ambassador to Denmark.
She survived by four children – Zoleka Mandela, (1980), Zondwa Mandela (1985), Bambatha Mandela (1989) and Zwelabo Mandela (1992).
Her first husband was Zwelibanzi Hlongwane. She married her second husband, Molapo Motlhajwa, who was a member of the South African National Defence Force, in March 2013.
