Zimbabweans have staged a protest at Wilkins Hospital in Harare over COVID-19 vaccine shortages.
Zimbabwe has been hit by a shortage of vaccines as the winter season intensifies and the governmwnt is still waiting to get its 500 000 vaccines,ordered from China which are expected to arrive in the country this month.
Zimbabwe’s junior health Minister John Mangwiro told the state controlled media that the government had plans to redistribute the 400 000 doses that remains from 1.7 million doses from areas with low demand to areas with high demand.
Africa faces the prospects of a deadly third wave of the virus and the World Health Organization’s director for Africa appealed for 20 million dose to administer second doses in an effort to avert disaster.
Earlier this week,information secretary Nick Mangwana revealed that Zimbabwe had reached a milestone after 1 million doses were administered.
The country has recorded 38 998 confirmed COVID-19 infections with 1 600 having lost their lives
