All Zimbabwean citizens returning to the country will now be in quarantine at their own expense including those who test positive to Covid-19.
People returning to Zimbabwe from other countries are first placed under quarantine as part of measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Addressing a post-Cabinet briefing yesterday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa, said ,” In order to ensure enforcement of Statutory Instrument No. 108 of 2021 in relation to the country’s ports of entry and exit, Cabinet wishes to advise that citizens returning to Zimbabwe will now be quarantined at their own expense. “
“Furthermore, those travellers found to be positive for COVID-19 will be isolated at an isolation centre at their own expense.”
According to the SI Returning citizens or residents of Zimbabwe who do not have a valid negative PCR test certificate on arrival are required to quarantine for 10 days at a designated hotel or other designated place of quarantine and will only be released after a negative COVID-19 test result.
Returning residents or citizens of Zimbabwe with proof of a negative PCR test certificate can self-quarantine at home for 10 days.
However, the government has since used several universities and colleges into quarantine centers for COVID-19.
