MISA applauds govt for cordial media relations

Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) has applauded government for its response in dealing with the harassment of journalist in the country

In a statement, MISA Director Tabani Moyo said the Ministry of information has always been available to rescue in the situations of distress.

“In this regard and in most instances, the ministry has come to our rescue especially the beginning of the phases of arrest and harassment during the Covid 19 lockdown,” said Moyo

He further added that the Zimbabwe Republic Police has also agreed to work in hand with journalist in service delivery

“The police itself came to the table and say no this is not the way we want things to go,” he added

MISA Director further highlighted that various protocols have been put in place to ensure safety of journalist when perfomring their duties

“We have since come up with various protocols on how we engage and build on to ensure that journalists are safe at any give time when performing their duties.

With the engagement made with the government, MISA said it is expecting an end to arrest and harassment of journalist
