Sikhala’s trial deferred

0

The trial of MDC Alliance Vice-Chairperson Job Sikhala, has been deferred  to next week Wednesday as the State failed to provide the forensic evidence  for the trial.

Represented by Gadzuro Ziyadhuma,  the State for postponement of trial indicating it needed forensic results of an audio evidence in its possession.

The forensic results of audio is said to purportedly feature Sikhala,  who is being accused of inciting public violence by propagating audios and video of incitement.

Sikhala’s lawyers, Harrison Nkomo and Jeremiah Bhamu, opposed the application for postponement, saying the State indicated that it had completed its investigations in September last year.

They however added that postponement of the matter is a violation of his client’s right to liberty after it has been postponed on several occasions.

On another note, former Cabinet minister Priscah Mupfumira, who is accused of criminal abuse of office, has applied for her matter to be conducted separately from that of former permanent secretary Banarbas Matongera, who is facing similar allegations.

The matter was postponed to the same day with that of Sikhala for ruling.
