600 000 Sinopharm Doses await delivery

The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority has since found no evidence of blood clots, and health authorities say there is a one in a million chance of getting clotting disorders.

Government reports that the country is awaiting delivery of 600 000 SinoPharm vaccine doses following a completion of procurement

This was revealed in a post cabinet briefing on Tuesday.

Zimbabwe received its first batch of 200,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine donated by the Chinese government in February.

In a post cabinet briefing Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa said, “ Cabinet is pleased to advise that Government is awaiting delivery of 600 000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines following completion of procurement processes.”
“ In addition, the Minister of Finance and Economic Development has granted authority to purchase 5 million more doses of vaccines,” she said.

Government noted that as of 12 April 2021, 234 709 people have received their first dose of the vaccine, while 29 304 received their second dose

Government is targeting to inoculate 10 million people of the population to achieve head immunity.
