Newly appointed Envoy and Ambassador at Large Uebert Mudzanire popularly known as Prophet Uebert Angel recently contoversially visited the Lowveld, Chiredzi, TechMag TV can exclusively reveal.
By Tongai Mwenje
Angel, a British-Zimbabwean charismatic evangelical preacher and the founder of Spirit Embassy was last week appointed Presidential Envoy and Ambassador at Large by President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.
His remit covers Europe, North America, South America and Central America giving him full powers to sign treaties or otherwise act for the state.
Soon after his appointment, the leader of the Good News Church – rebranded version of Spirit Embassy, promised to hit the ground running by luring investors in the country as early as last week.
He told journalists that he will use his connections globally and his entrepreneurship abilities to promote investment in the country.
Perhaps true to his pledge, the lanky cleric paid a visit to Chiredzi District in Masvingo Province a day after his appointment where he met a group of businesspeople.
Accompanied by the Provincial Minister, Ezra Chadzamira, Angel promised the business community to bait 20 investors to explore opportunities in the sugarcane rich area.
” Yes, it’s true the ambassador was here and met business people in this community. He promised to revive this area by luring investors to come to Chiredzi. He said he will lure 20 investors,” an anonymous source revealed to this publication.
The source did not reveal Angel’s main business interest in the area.
His visit could face some scrutiny especially from his critics who are still trying to come to terms with his recent appointment.
Apparently, Chiredzi is making headlines over government’s mooted effort to displace more than 12 500 families in Chilonga.
The move, alleged to benefit the villagers through Dendairy Lurcene grass project is currently facing massive resistance from the locals.
Lucerne is the king of fodder, yielding a large volume of high quality hay that’s rich in protein. Lucerne belongs to the legume family, which means that, working with soil bacteria called rhizobia, it is able to fix nitrogen to make it available for plant growth.
Critics say, the project is a cover up since the area is rich in precious minerals like diamond and gold.
Angel, who received a surprise appointment is alleged to have massive interests in gold and diamond.
Could his surprise visit be a surveying action? Your guess is as good as mine.
