Health and Child Care Minister and Acting President Constantino Chiwenga said President Mnangagwa will receive his first Chinese developed Sinovac corona virus vaccine this week.

In a statement Health Minister said President Mnangagwa will receive his jab while officially launching the Second Phase of the Covid 19 Vaccination Programme in Victoria Falls this coming Wednesday, March 24.

President Mnangagwa will be accompanied by other members of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) who will also receive their first jabs on the same occasion on the same day.

He said:

“At that high profile event, Government will also commence an embracing Covid-19 vaccination roll-out campaign which will afford all residents of the City an opportunity to get vaccinated.

“This vaccination exercise will pave way for the resumption of unlimited tourism activities in the City which is a world attraction.

“Already, Government has announced a vaccination programme for teachers and other personnel in the educational sector in the wake of the resumption of normal teaching programmes in schools and colleges.

“Overall, Government targets the vaccination of 60 per cent of the population in order to achieve herd immunity.”

Acting President Constantino Chiwenga became the first person to receive the first Phase of Sinopham jab mid February at Wilkins Hospital.
