Makore family rejects DNA results

The family of the murdered Mrehwa boy, Tapiwa Makore (Jnr) have demanded second DNA test after they rejected the DNA results which claim the matching of the jaw, tooth and limp which were missing.

Mrs Linda Munyori, Tapiwa’s mother confirmed the disagreement with the DNA results arguing that the head looked so old compared to the age of their late boy.

“It is true that we do not agree with the results. The head didn’t have a scalp and looked a bit old, and resembling that of a 12-year-old or 13-year-old child. Our child was seven years old.

Family lawyer, Ms Tabitha Chikera, also told the media that the head could not be Makore’s because it did not look new despite the fact that the head was found three days after the murder.

This comes after the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) released a statement confirming that the head had matched with the body.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that communication has been made with the late Tapiwa Makore’s family in connection with the DNA results which were conducted by AIBST DNA Testing Centre and National University of Science and Technology.

“The DNA results showed that the jaw, tooth and limb were a direct match to the torso. All other details concerning the case will be revealed once trial proceedings are in motion,” said the ZRP spokesperson.

Tapiwa went missing on September 17 while looking after her parents’ garden. His torso was found the next morning, with parts including his head.

It was reported that he was killed for ritual purposes.

Since then, six suspects, including family members, have been detained, while others have been questioned in connection with the abduction and murder.

The killers and their accomplices abducted the boy, dumped him on a mountain and held him all day before killing him, then cut off his head, arms and legs at night.

This bizarre intrigue has sent shockwaves and raised eyebrows whether money exchanged hands in ascertaining the actual DNA.
