Thousands of mourners have atttended Genius Kadungure’s funeral at the late’s mansion in Domboshava despite the Covid 19 regulations of not exceeding 100 people.

Many of those who have attended the funeral had no masks and those who had them chose to wear them wrongly, while ignoring social distance, as people pressed forward to have a better view of the proceedings.

Despite the “No Mask No Entry” posters at the mansion’s entrance, people chose to proceed without those face masks.

In a speech given by Goromonzi West legislator, Energy Mutodi, said that even though Genius was a man of the public, but people should stick to the Covid-19 protocols because the pandemic has not ended yet.

“We all know that Genius was a popular figure, but people should know that the Covid-19 pandemic has not ended yet and the virus is real.”

However, sanitizer was only for those who were passing through the mansion, as the funeral organisers were alert to the dangers posed by Covid-19.
“There is no social distancing and sanitisation of people outside the mansion, and people are doing what they want in breach of the Covid-19 protocols
“Only those who are getting into the mansion are the ones who are being sanitized, what about us who are outside,” said one of the villagers.”

Previously, in response to the request for a farewell party for Ginimbi, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) had warned the public to stick to the Covid 19 protocols to avoid the spreading of the pandemic but all the measures were ignored.
