Zim Artistes nominated for AFRIMMA

Six Zimbabwean artists Ammara Brown, Gemma Griffiths, Shasha, Shashal, Jah Prayzah and Nadia Nakai although she has been nominated as a South African Best Female Rap Act have been nominated for the African Musik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) to be held on the 15th of November in Dallas, Texas.

The prestigious awards saw Zimbabwe’s Ammara Brown, Gemma Griffiths, and Shasha being nominated among other female powerhouses in the Best Female Musician Southern Africa category.

Afro-pop star Ammara Brown, who scooped an AFRIMMA award in 2018, is ecstatic after being nominated for the third year in a row.

”I remember the first year 2018, I didn’t even expect to win it. It’s amazing that every year they recognize me which means that I have been consistent. It means I have been able to connect with my colleagues and fans across the continent. I am excited that on the list, four of the artists are Zimbabweans which is so encouraging.” Said in facebook post

Celebrated artist Jah Prayzah has also been nominated in the Best Male Musician Southern Africa
South African Based Shasha, who recently won a BET Award, has also been nominated in the Best New Comer category.

AFRIMMA is the sole award ceremony in the Diaspora that celebrates music of African origin.

Themed “Destination Africa” this year’s edition will be held virtually owing to the Covid-19 pandemic
