The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has called off leave, off duty and vacations for all police officers ahead of 31 July demonstrations.
The move requires police officers to sleep at their stations being on standby .
This development comes ahead of the anti government corruption demonstrations scheduled for July 31.
In a notice to its staff members the ZRP said , “ All forms of time offs and vacation leave are cancelled by the commissioner general of police expect for those who are on maternity leave.”
“All police officers are expected to bring their own bedding on the 30 of July and be prepared to sleep at the station on standby for briefing and deployment to be carried out the 31st of July.”
Officers has since been deployed at road block checkpoints , as part of measures to restrict a large number of people into the city centre amid the lockdown.
The planned July 31 demostrations has already led to the arrest of some of the organisers Jacob Ngarivhume and Hopewell Chino’nono.
A man hunt of activists has also being issued by the police.
