MDC Alliance councillor Jacob Mafume has won the Harare mayoral election, beating his opponent Luckson Mukunguma of Thokozani Khupe led MDCT.
Thirty four councillors voted were Mafume polled 19 votes while Mukunguma got 14 with one spoilt vote recorded.
The election which saw the biggest opposition party MDC Alliance returning the top post in Harare followed the recalling of then mayor Herbert Gomba.
Gomba was recalled from council early this month by MDC T, which claimed he was no longer a member of the party.
The troubled ex mayor elected on MDC Alliance ticket in 2018 also lost his Glen Norah ward 27 post.
