Ngarivhume gets freedom at last

Leader of one of the opposition parties in the country, Transform Zimbabwe, Jacob Ngarivhume has finally been temporarily freed from jail on ZWL$50,000, the court has revealed.

Ngarivhume, the convener of the foiled July 31 movement has been in remand prison for 45 days.

He appeared at the High Court on Wednesday for his bail appeal having been previously denied three times.

The transform party leader was being detained at Chikurubi Maximum Prison.

Magistrate Justice Musithu granted him bail on Wednesday morning barring him from sharing messages on Twitter, ordering him to report three times per week to the police and also to surrender his passport.

The opposition leader together with investigative journalist Hopewell Chin’ono were arrested on July 20 and charged with incitement of public violence ahead of the foiled July 31 demonstrations.
