MDC Alliance Deputy National Chairperson Job Sikhala’s bail ruling has been set for tomorrow at 1430 hrs.
The vibrant politician who has been on the police wanted list for almost a month was arrested on Friday following a tip off.
According to Jeremiah Bhamu who is representing the vocal politician, the magistrate set Sikhala’s bail ruling on Wednesday at 1430hrs.
“We continued with the submissions challenging his placement on remand and the court will make its decision tomorrow (26 August 2020) at 14:30hours. What we were placing before the court is an argument that what is alleged against Mr Sikhala does not amount to an offense at all,” Bhamu said.
Sikhala went into hiding few weeks before the much-publicised July 31 Movement after he got wind that members of the security forces were hunting for him in connection with the peaceful demonstration.
Since then, he has been promoting a citizen peaceful demonstration against human rights abuses, corruption among others by political elites and security forces from his hideout.
His freedom was abruptly ended when an armed security team ambushed his place of hiding in Tynwald, Harare.
He was detained at a local police station before his first bail application attempt was postponed to Tuesday.
He is facing charges of inciting public violence.
