Vice President and Minister Of health and Child Care Constantino Chiwenga has pleaded with striking nurse to return to work , assuring that government is working hard to improve the healthy sector situation.
Nurses is some public institutions have been on a strike over the past three months citing to low salaries failing to sustain them and lack of personal protective equipment (PPEs) in hospitals.
Recently , ZNA had said that the new health Minister has been neglecting their concerns and crisis in the healthy sector.
Chiwenga made the plea to nurses to report for duty and save lives while addressing farmers at the launch of the Climate-Proofed Presidential Inputs Programme at Nyabvuti Farm in Guruve on Thursday .
“We are working hard to improve our health delivery system at ward, village, district, province up to referral institutions. We are strengthening our system so that people can access medication easily.”
“Our health workers are on strike. We are encouraging them to return to work so we that we can save lives. While we are aware of their grievances, they should also consider saving lives. We are not blind to your issues. We are working hard to assist, but you should also consider lives of patients,” he said.
Striking Nurses have downsized tools demanding PPEs and salaries in USD as the economy continue to worsen.
Government announced a COVID19 allowance for Nurses , but however failed to pay them in July pushing the Nurses to protest and down tools.
The countries healthy sector is in a dire situation faced with shortage of medicines , equipments whilst there is the COVID19 crisis PPEs for healthy care providers have not been adequate.
