A local bar situated at the corner of 13th Avenue and Robert Mugabe Way in Bulawayo was targeted by armed robbers earlier yesterday, with three unidentified suspects making off with USD 4 300.00 in cash.

According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the incident occurred at approximately 10:00 hours when the three suspects stormed the premises as staff members were in the process of counting the daily takings.

The assailants proceeded to hold the employees hostage before stealing the cash.

Police confirmed that they swiftly responded to the report, with relevant units being mobilised and attending the scene in a short space of time.

However, upon arrival, the suspects had already fled the location.

Investigations into the brazen daylight robbery are now underway.

In a separate development, the ZRP announced the arrest of several suspects involved in other recent armed robbery cases in Bulawayo’s western suburbs.

These suspects are alleged to have used machetes and other weapons in a series of incidents that occurred in Cowdray Park, Makokoba, Nkulumane, and surrounding areas.
