The Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF) has concluded is inaugural Executive Committee meeting in Windhoek yesterday, where Zimbabwe’s Parliamentary Speaker, Jacob Mudenda, representing Zimbabwe’s leadership within the Forum, received formal acknowledgement of the country’s preparedness following the adoption of the Parliamentary Business Sub-Committee’s report.

The upcoming Plenary Assembly will convene under the theme: “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Effective and Efficient Parliamentary Processes in the SADC Region: Experiences, Challenges and Opportunities.”
In a humble move towards financial sustainability, the EXCO adopted the Terms of Reference for a Plenary Assembly Ad hoc Fundraising Committee.
This strategic body will be tasked with mobilizing resources to support the Forum’s operations and programmes, a crucial step given current economic pressures and donor fatigue.
In his speech during the inaugural EXCO meeting, SADC PF President, Rt. Hon. Speaker Justin Tokely, lauded the productive discussions and the spirit of unity among the delegates.
He expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended by the Parliament and the Republic of Namibia.
Delegates departed the three-day policy-setting session with a renewed commitment to implementing the Forum’s five-year Strategic Plan.
The meeting, held at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino Hotel, fulfilled the EXCO’s mandate to oversee the SADC PF’s policies, administration, and financial management, as outlined in the Forum’s Constitution.
This pivotal role ensures the efficient execution of the Forum’s objectives between Plenary Assemblies.
