Police Officer Faces Investigation After High-Speed Chase Kills Two In Gweru

Two people died on the spot after a high-speed police chase ended in tragedy along Bristol Road in Gweru last night.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that the fatal accident occurred around 10:30 PM, when a Toyota Aqua crashed into a tree while being pursued by Constable Sakala of ZRP Mkoba.

The incident has drawn widespread attention on social media, with videos circulating online showing the aftermath of the crash. In response, the police acknowledged the footage and assured the public that both criminal and disciplinary action would be taken against the officer involved.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that both criminal and disciplinary action will be taken on Constable Sakala for his conduct,” the ZRP said in a statement.

The ZRP extended its condolences to the families of the victims and stated that more details will be released in due course.
