Zimbabwe is gearing up to host the 15th meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP15) to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, from July 23 to 31, 2025, at the Elephant Hills Hotel in Victoria Falls. The conference, themed “Protecting Wetlands for our Common Future,” will bring together representatives from 172 countries, making it a significant international gathering.
Preparations are already at an advanced stage, with suitable conference facilities identified and the COP15 website now operational.
Registration for foreign delegates is underway, while local registration will commence in early March 2025.
The conference will showcase Zimbabwe’s tourist destinations, including the Victoria Falls, Zambezi Nationalprotection the Kasibo Wetland.
Key issues to be discussed include sustainable use of wetlands, protection of freshwater sources, and biodiversity protection.
Zimbabwe’s Environment Minister, Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu, signed an agreement to host COP15, highlighting the country’s commitment to wetland conservation.
With preparations in full swing, Zimbabwe is poised to host a successful COP15, promoting international cooperation on wetland conservation.
