A devastating mining accident occurred at Yellow Snake 37 Mine in Kwekwe yesterday, claiming the lives of three miners.
According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the incident occurred on yesterday when the three victims entered the mine shaft using a cage.

As they attempted to exit the shaft, a critical safety hook, which secured the rope to the cage, suddenly broke. The cage plummeted down the shaft, overturning and crushing the three miners beneath its weight.
The bodies of the victims were retrieved and transported to Kwekwe General Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The ZRP has launched an investigation into the incident, which is expected to examine the safety protocols in place at the mine and determine the cause of the safety hook’s failure.
