Vice President Dr. Constantino Chiwenga has called on stakeholders in the agriculture sector to invest in research that addresses the nation’s food production challenges.
Speaking at the inaugural Research for Agricultural Excellence Indaba held in Harare on Thursday, VP Chiwenga emphasized the need for research to drive transformation in the agricultural landscape. “There is a need for research that provides solutions to our production and productivity challenges, animal diseases, as well as increased revenue generation through import substitution,” he stated.
Dr. Chiwenga also stressed the importance of practical research in shaping the sector’s future. “It is my conviction that all we need is pragmatic research that informs the policies and programmes that will shape the future of this agriculture sector,” he added.
The event, held under the theme “Research and Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Agribusiness Development,” highlighted the critical role of research in fostering sustainable growth within the industry.
