The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the traffic accident at the 120-kilometer peg along Harare- Nyamapanda yesterday at 1625 hours.
A Toyota Quantum vehicle burst to result in the car veering off the road and hitting a tree where seven people were killed and five were injured. Five of the seven victims were identified by their next of kin.
Michael Mugandani (36) a male adult, Innocent Nyamukondiwa (37), Edith Musorowembudzi (36) a female adult, Dumisani Mutsawa (33) a male adult and Mabhebhe Chingamuka (6) a female juvenile. The remaining victims have not yet been identified.
“The injured victims were admitted at Murewa District Hospital while the bodies of the victims were taken to Mutoko Hospital mortuary for the post-mortem”, said ZRP statement on X.
The ZRP has encouraged motorists to observe stipulated speed limits and abide by the road rules and regulations to save human lives.
