Kazembe Kazembe Reports Progress  On Arrest Of Drug Lords

The government has stepped up efforts  in the fight against the scourge of drugs and substance abuse making it categorically clear their war on drugs continues on all fronts in all the country’s provinces.
Speaking during the post-Cabinet briefing, the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Hon Kazembe Kazembe said there had been a lot of progress with several arrests being made.
“A total of 2 373 individuals have been arrested, and 48 bases were identified, raided, and destroyed in c in six provinces which are Harare (10), Manicaland (25), Mashonaland Central (6), Matabeleland North (3), Mashonaland West (2) and Midlands (2). A total of 124 outlet owners were arrested for violating their licenses and 724 liquor premises were inspected”.
The cabinet has approved the upward review of the fine from level 5 of USD30 to level 7 which is USD400 or the ZIG equivalent or imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years.
The youths were trained through campaigns and a total of 16 529 people were capacitated across the country and 101 youths were trained under the revamped Youth Service in Zimbabwe. More youth are expected to be enrolled following the launch by the president at Nhakiwa in Uzumba-Maramba-Pfungwe in Mashonaland East province on 24 May 2024.
About 1 900 youth volunteers have participated in community development projects in Masvingo, Mashonaland East, and Mashonaland Central provinces.
