UN Women Partner ZimStat Achieve Gender Equality

0
United Nations Women (UN) has partnered with the Zimbabwe National Statistical Agency (ZimStats) to achieve gender equality by 2030 and to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The collaboration is aimed to improve the availability and quality of gender-disaggregated data, which is important for identifying and addressing the unique challenges faced by girls and women.
“With only a few years left until 2030, we have less than half of 47% of the gender data we need to monitor SDG 5 globally. If no significant change or deliberate actions are made to accelerate gender data financing and action, we estimate that it will likely take us 22 years to close SDG gender data gaps alone”, reads the statement.
UN Women has been implementing programs to support the donors and increase data production that can be used to address the challenges that can limit the production and use of gender data.
The partnership has enabled ZimStats to develop new tools and methods for collecting and analyzing gender-disaggregated data. This has improved the accuracy and reliability of the data and provides relevant information to the policymakers.
The collaboration is important in achieving common goals and making a difference in the lives of women and girls in Zimbabwe.
