0

The Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council has issued disturbing results pf bore water tests that were done recently.
The results have revealed that the borehole water in a number of settlements was indeed a health time bomb that might explode anytime as E.coil cholera causing bacteria have been found.

The boreholes in Mt. Pleasant, Avondale, Glen View, Lyton Industry, Greendale, Eastlea, Mbare, Budiriro, Waterfalls, Eyecourt, Chitungwiza, Hopley, and Norton have tested positive to the bacteria.
The presence of the bacteria shows that there is contamination of the water supply in these areas. The bacteria cause illnesses such as cholera. The council is taking action to address the situation because it poses a significant health risk to the residents.

“The residents are being advised to drink, cook, or wash with treated water from boreholes or other sources of water. Use Aqua Tabs to treat borehole water. Get your borehole water tested by a reputable laboratory to confirm its safety. USMCC can provide information on accredited laboratories”, said the statement.

Part of the statement reads, “The households and institutions who had their water tested have been informed of the results. The updates of the situation will be provided on USMCC websites and social media channels”.
The residents are encouraged to take this seriously and to act to ensure their safety.
