CCC  Takes ZEC Head-On, Hands In Supreme Court Appeal

Citizens Coalition for Change candidates who were yesterday barred from contesting in the by-election set for tomorrow have approached the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and demanded that their candidates should be on the ballot papers.

CCC candidates were barred from taking part in the upcoming by-election by a High Court judgement which favoured under-fire interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu.

High Court Judge Justice Never Katiyo ruled in favour of Tshabangu meaning that all the CCC candidates seconded by party president Nelson Chamisa have to be removed from the ballot papers two days before voting takes place.

However, CCC member Gift Ostallos Siziba took to his X account and announced that they have since approached ZEC and served the Chief Elections Officer Utoile Silaigwana with a Supreme Court Appeal accompanied by a letter demanding the assurance that their candidates will be on the ballot paper for tomorrow.

“We have just been to @ZECzim and have served The Chief Election Officer Slygwana with our Supreme Court Appeal accompanied by a letter demanding the assurance that our candidates are on the ballot for tomorrow,” wrote Siziba on his account.

Tshabangu had applied to the High Court to bar president Chamisa’s CCC candidates from participating in the forthcoming elections
