A 23-year-old Chitungwiza woman Abigail Khumalo was duped by her unidentified new lover in Harare Central Business District (CBD) on Thursday night.
Khumalo was proposed to spend the night and she agreed. The man persuaded her to accompany him to his presumed residence in Malbereign which she agreed. The two boarded a commuter omnibus to Westgate and disembarked at Westgate roundabout, this publication has learnt.
Upon reaching a secluded spot the man seized her from behind, choking her, produced a knife and forcibly took her belongings and clothes, leaving her naked.
Khumalo got help from a passerby who escorted her to Avondale Police Station to file a report
A spokesperson for Harare provincial police inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case and the matter is still under investigation. He urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid in identifying the robber who vanished into the darkness after the incident.
