The government approves bonus awards for public service employees and traditional leaders in recognition of their efforts.
Traditionally the government has awarded a performance reward to public service employees in the form of a thirteenth cheque (bonus) at the end of each year.
“In line with the established tradition and recognition of the efforts of public service workers, the government has approved a bonus award for public service employees and traditional leaders”.
The approved bonus in respective currencies for public service is as follows
100% bonus on pensionable emoluments in line with Civil Service Key Scale (Basic Salary in service allowance and Administration allowance payable in local currency from grade B to E. Also, with a flat USD$300 payable in hard currency from grade B to E.
Traditional leaders’ bonus payments will be as follows;
Chiefs- 337,256 ZWL ; USD300
Headman- 168,628 ZWL ; USD210
Village Head- 84,314 ZWL ; USD100
Chief’s messenger- 42,157 ZWL; USD100
Headman’s messenger- 31,618 ZWL ; USD 100
The government has also approved a once-off flat payout to pensioners and are as follows
Own right- USD100
Spouse- USD80
Child- USD50
Secretary for Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, George Guvamatanga, said, “To ease pressure cash flows of bonus will be paid in two equal instalments in November and December 2023 across all sectors. Payments should be made concurrently with the monthly salaries of each sector.
