The Permanent Secretary for ministry of Lands, Agriculture Fisheries Water and Rural Development Obert Jiri had an interaction with farmers and different stakeholders from the agricultural sector today in Harare
The interaction session was to unpack the context, framing, highliting challenges and mapping way forward to close the gender gap and empower women in food industry.
Speaking during the sessions he said, ” The rural sector supports over 65%of Zimbabwe’s population and the majority of these wome are into farming, cropping, livestock, horticulture and agro- industry.

One of the women present on the discussions pointed out one of the constraints they face in farming, ” The issue of ownership remains a turmoil to women as we find out hard to access original and certified papers for our portion of lands”.
The event was ran under the theme ” Rural Women Cultivating Good Food for All”
