Sikandar Raza made history on Saturday by becoming the fourth Zimbabwean to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after starting for Punjab Kings.
The 36-year-old Pakistan-born Raza made his first-ever appearance in the IPL, having been named in Punjab Kings’ squad against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Coming in at number five, Raza had a poor outing as the right-hander scored 16 runs before becoming Sunil Narine’s victim.
Having been a mainstay of the Zimbabwean cricket team for years, star all-rounder Sikandar Raza was picked up by the Punjab Kings at the IPL 2023 mini-auction.
Raza has been an integral member of the Zimbabwean side since making his international debut in 2013.
The veteran cricketer has scored over 3,000 runs in T20 cricket, including 20 fifties. Raza is also a handy bowler capable of bowling both spin and seam-up. His wealth of experience and skill will bolster an already impressive PBKS squad.
