Today 21 March 2023, all roads lead to the Global Money Week CEO Round Table. The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) will be participating and playing a very key cognitive role.
TechnoMag exclusively caught up with POTRAZ who told this publication that they have, “partnered with other stakeholders such as the RBZ, Insurance and Pension Commission, Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe, to celebrate and commemorate the Global Money Week whose theme is “Plan your Money, Plant your Future” through Financial Literacy awareness.”
When quizzed on the specifics of Potraz involvement and What they will be teaching students in Zimbabwe on the global money week considering it’s ending on 26 March, the country’s Telecoms regulator exclusively told this reporter that,
“POTRAZ is teaching:
i. the role of the Authority as enunciated in the Postal and Telecommunications Act
ii. Bringing out the nexus between Telecommunications and Banking and Finance; noting the convergence of Telecommunications and financial services
iii. Emphasizing the importance of digital literacy in achieving financial literacy
iii. Outlining the importance of Community Information Centres as infrastructure and internet access points that communities can ride on as they seek to be financially included
iv. Consumer rights
v. Complaints handling procedures
vi. Data Protection.”
“The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe Potraz has so far participated at the following:
i. Lupane State State University, Matabeleland North
ii. Plumtree High School, Matabeleland South
iii. Shashane High School, Kezi, Matabeleland South
iv. National University of Science and Technology, Bulawayo.”
