President Mnangagwa has hinted that the country could go to polls around July this year ,as the country steps up preparations for the much anticipated plebiscite.
Mnangagwa made the revelation during the signing ceremony of the Zimbabwe-Belarus instruments of cooperation held at State House yesterday.
”Zimbabwe will soon hold elections, sometimes in July possibly.
Let me assure that since independence, Zimbabwe has never omitted to hold elections every five years,”he said.
The country is scheduled to go for the General Elections later this year with the future of the country at stake.
Mnangagwa will face another gigantic challenging in Nelson Chamisa and his Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) party who have performed well in the 2022 Parliamentary by elections.
The 2018 elections were marred by allegations of rigging and voter intimidation and it remains to be seen if the government will implement the necessary political reforms needed to ensure a credible election.
