POTRAZ Calls On Students To Safeguard ICT Equipment

The Postal  and  Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe  (POTRAZ) has called on the beneficiaries of the Presidential National E-Learning Strategy  to safeguard the  ICT equipment that has been given to them by the government.

Speaking during the official commissioning of the  school computer laboratories at Queen Elizabeth II Primary school in Bulawayo,the POTRAZ Director General Dr Gift Machengete underscored the importance of protecting the resources bequeathed  to them by the government

“For the teachers and parents and the communities ,i urge you to ensure that the  equipment  that you have been given by the government is looked after and that you protect  this equipment against theft against vandalism, there is no way that you have a second chance,”he said.

POTRAZ in partnership  with the Ministry of ICT,Postal and Courier Services commissioned 22 school laboratories in the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province on Friday  as part of government efforts to enhance the learning and teaching processes.

The POTRAZ boss reiterated  that the resources were a once off  gift to the community and the onus was on the community to safeguard the equipment so that it continues to benefit the community.

”If you have your equipment stolen if you still it yourselves, you will not get replacement equipment and the community suffers so ladies and gentlemen please look after this equipment,”he said

A total 21 schools from Bulawayo benefitted from the Presidential E-learning Strategy with each school getting a fully equipped computer laboratory   with 30 laptops and free internet connectivity for a year from  POTRAZ using funds sourced from the Universal Services Fund.
