Zimbabwe will soon be deploying the safe city project which will see the utilization of ICTs in apprehending criminals and accessing emergency services Minister of ICT postal and courier services has revealed.
Speaking during the donation of hundreds of computers to schools in Bulawayo metropolitan province on Friday Honorable Jenfan Muswere said information and communication technologies will be used by law enforcement agents to mitigate criminal activity whilst ensuring that the country has a functional sustainable digital economy by the year 2030.
“We are also now in the process of deploying the safe city project which will see the utilization of ICTs apprehending criminals, to apprehend traffic offenders as we journey to ensure that we have a functional sustainable digital economy by the year 2030,”
The Safe Cities project will make use of a range of interconnected tracking devices, video cameras, software, and cloud storage systems in a more cohesive manner to enhance public goals such as policing, managing traffic, and streamlining administrative services.
