8 Pakistan Nationals In Court For Forgery Of Immigration Papers

Eight Pakistan Nationals appeared in court today, facing allegations of forging immigration visa approval letters.

It is alleged that the accused persons were helped by an aspiring Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Hurungwe Pax Maringazuva who gave asylum to them at his house with intentions to traffic them to South Africa.

Harare Magistrate Dennis Mungosi heard that, “Farukh Dilawar (20), Tahir Azeem(37), Sikandar Zulqarnain (31), Muhammed Tahir (26), Muhammed Fayaz (26), Muhammed Arham Asif (26), Muhammed Ali Ghazi (28) and a minor forged the Immigration visa approval bearing a purported signature of the Regional Immigration Officer and endorsed non-existence Immigration Headquarters reference numbers which they went on to use upon arrival in Zimbabwe.

“On the 16 of January 2023 at around 10300 hours the accused persons arrived at Robert Mugabe International Airport aboard Qatar Airways QR611 and Ethiopian Airways number ET873.

The accused persons went on to take that one Pax Muringazuva was their host on their declaration form. Accused persons went on to submit the forged approval letter and declared forms to Immigration Officials for application for Holiday visas.

Basing on the information on the forged visa approval letter the accused were issued with 30 days holiday visas which they were not entitled to.

On the same date at around 1400 hours, the accused persons were arrested at house number 16 Dorchester, Mabelreign, Harare.

They were remanded in custody to January, 19 2023.

Pardon Dziva prosecuted.

Maringazuva is separately charged with two counts, one is of contravening Section 36(1)(a)(c) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 4.02. and second is of contravening Section 3(1)(b)(i) and (ii)of the trafficking in persons act chapter 9.25.

He was granted ZWL$300 000 bail and will be back in court on March 23, 2023.
