The Zimbabwe Republic Police has refuted claims that it had arrested the suspect wanted for the murder of three people in Wedza ,last Friday.
The suspect identified as Jason Muvhemi,a former CID officer is still on the run after fatally shooting three people dead including a police officer in charge af Wedza police station on Friday.
The fourth victim of the shooting who is also a police officer sustained serious injuriues and is currently in hospital recovering.
Speaking to the state media,police national spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said that the suspect was still at large and that a manhunt had been launched to bring the suspect to book.
“He is not yet arrested. The suspect fled and left his vehicle and a gun he had taken from the officers. He was located in Chiduku. It is not true that he has been arrested,”he said
Reports had emerged that the suspect had been apprehended at Changadzi while attempting to cross into Mozambique during the weekend.
However the suspect is said to have fled into a mountain after a shoutout with the police had ensued.Police recovered his vehicle and a gun that he had taken from the police officers.
Meawhile the police has deployed a helicopter into the mountain area as the manhunt for Muvhemi intensifies.
