Apple has launched the emergency SOS via satellite, which allows users to text emergency services when they’re off the grid.
The mobile and electronic giant said that the service is free for two years with the newest iPhone model and allows users to text emergency services when they are off grid..
The service is available for all iPhone 14 users and to access the service, users do so by pointing their phones to the sky and connecting to one of 24 Globalstar satellites in low Earth orbit.
The Apple Emergency SOS satellite service has already recorded its first success after it prompted a rescue after a car drove off a cliff just north of Los Angeles. The rescue could be the first prompted by the SOS feature.
