ZERA Reviews LPG Prices

THE Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority has reviewed the prices of the Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) with effects from the 12 December 2022.

In a statement, ZERA highlighted that, it is permitted to sell LPG at a low price than the prescribe prices.

“Stakeholders are advised that LGP prices for December 2022 calculated according to the Petroleum (Liquid Petroleum Gas Pricing) Regulations 90 0f 2021 are as follows US$ price/kg 1.83 and ZWL price /kg 1208.58.

“Operators are advised to display prices at their retail outlets at a prominent place in clearly legible letters. Please note that it is permissible to sell LPG at prices below the prescribed prices depending on one’s trading advantages.

“Stakeholders are advised that the petroleum prices release by ZERA can be verified on the official ZERA websites, Facebook or Twitter handle.”

The price review of LGP came in at a time where there nation is facing up to 18 hours of power outages.

Recently the load curtailment national wide worsened amid reports that the Kariba South Power Station was ordered to shut down because the water levels at Kariba Dam are very low for power generation.

Hwange Thermal Power Station also has not been producing at its maximum capacity.

Power imports from neighbouring Mozambique and South Africa have gone down due to debts and the incapacity of suppliers such as ESKOM to generate enough power for their own use.

However, the use of LPG is gaining momentum in Zimbabwe as an alternative source of energy.
