Vice President Constatino Chiwenga’s ex-wife Marry Mubaiwa took a swipe at Women Rights and Child Protection organizations saying they have failed to represent their constituency.

Mubaiwa’s sentiments came in after Zimbabwe Women Rights and Child Protection Organisations failed to rally behind her after she lost her three minor children custody to Chiwenga.

Speaking at the Harare Magistrate Court after attending to her alleged murder case, Mubaiwa said if these Lobby groups existed they would have helped her.

“If Women Rights and Child Protection Organisations existed, they would have helped but they did not, they are just on the side-lines.”

Mubaiwa went on to say, women does not help each other in their time of need because they are jealous to each other, instead of helping some might be enjoying watching her in pain but later said justice will prevail.

She added that, it is painful and disheartening to be kept away from her children.

Mubaiwa lost custody of her three minor children to Chiwenga after he appealed against a judgement made last year in Mubaiwa’s favour, Chiwenga argued the Mubaiwa was not mentally fit and was taking drugs.

In 2021, Mubaiwa took to social media saying she missed her children , and was exhausted due to mental torture.

When the Zimbabwe Gender Commission was launching the National Inquiry on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Young Girls and Child Marriages, in April 2022, Techmag.TV asked ZGC’s position on the case of Mubaiwa where she was denied the right to seek medication abroad for lymphoedema.

The Chairperson of the (ZGC) Commissioner Margaret Mukahanana-Sangarwe said the matter was still at the courts and the Commission cannot comment on the issues, therefore they are waiting for the trial to end. Once courts make a Ruling then can they investigate on the matter.
