Investigations into the alleged incitement of public violence in Nyatsime by Citizens Coalition for Change Legislators Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole are now complete with the trial date set for November 15.
Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti has assured Sikhala and Sithole’s Defence Counsel Jeremiah Bamu that investigations are now complete.
He added that he will furnish the Defence Counsel in addition with the state papers and evidence before the trial date.
Magistrate Tawurai Manuwere advised that Sikhala and Sithole will be back in court on November 2 for their interim remand.
However, Bamu argued that the State was supposed to advise him with the specific magistrate who will preside over their trial and a specific court room.
Mutsokoti in his response said, both the State and the Defence will find out who will be the magistrate and the court room on the day of the trial.
Sikhala and Sithole were arrested on June 14 over a speech he allegedly gave over the death of slain CCC activist, Moreblessing Ali, whose mutilated body was found in a well 18 days after she went missing.
The two were denied bail by the chief magistrate, Faith Mushure, who ruled they were likely to reoffend.
After the two were denied bail, they approached the High court, which turned down their appeal on the same grounds.
They then went back to the lower court seeking bail on changed circumstances.
Sikhala has been arrested over 67 times over the past two decades but has no single conviction.
