The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Moses Mhike has congratulated Kudakwashe “take money” Chiwandire for being a torch bearer for all sportswomen in Zimbabwe.
This statement came in after Chiwandire defeated Mexican challenger Zulina Munaz who was challenging her World Boxing Super Bantamweight (WBC) Interim tittle at the Harare International Conference Centre on Saturday.
“The Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development would like to congratulate Kudakwashe “take money” Chiwandire for successfully defending her world boxing council super-bantamweight interim tittle.
“As a Ministry, we would like to say, Kudakwashe thank you for raising our country’s flag high and being a torch bearer for all sportswomen in Zimbabwe.
“You are a model and what you have accomplished through sport, is evident of the power of a woman and you are blazing a trail that every girl child must strive to emulate.
“Women are the most disadvantaged in our society and in most cases are relegated to lesser and inferior roles.
Mhike added that Chiwandire’s success is an example to every girl child in Zimbabwe.
“Through your grit and perseverance, you have stood firm and uplifted yourself setting an example for the girl child.
“You have retained the honours, continue to shine and be a star to every girl child in our wonderful nation of Zimbabwe,” said Mhike.
The 27-year old boxer who is now gunning for the WBC main belt, took control of the match from the beginning, however Munaz was resistant but could not make it in the seventh and eighth round-bout.
Chiwandire managed to hang on landing punches that increased her points tally to win the fight.
