The Zimbabwe national cricket side the Chevrons began their 2022 T20 Cricket Men’s World Cup I’m Australia with a 31 run victory over Ireland.
Zimbabwe posted an impressive 174 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their alloted overs to move to second place behind Scotland in Group B.
Zimbabwe put up a clinical performance to tame the Irish, a side with a dangerous batting lineup.
Muzarabani (3/23) was the lead act in his side’s success with the ball, restricting Ireland to 143/9 in 20 overs.
In form Sikandar Raza was the star of the show as he produced a match winning performance,smashing 82 runs off 48 runs to guide Zimbabwe to their highest T20 World Cup total.
Raza was awarded the Aramco Player of the Match award for his excellent display.
The Chevrons will now face West Indies with a positive result taking the Zimbabwean side closer to the super 12 stage.
